The federal Government has approved a 14-day paternity leave for Nigerian civil servants.
The communique states that the move is to enable the fathers adequately bond with their babies.
The new approval was disclosed after the weekly Federal Executive Council Meet (FEC) held today, Wednesday, 29th September, 2021.
The Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan made the announcement while briefing state house correspondents after the virtual FEC meeting president over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
She told the journalists that the paternity leave is to enable proper bonding between father and newborn, whether natural-born or adopted especially at the early stages of the child’s life.
Yemi-Esan added that fathers of adopted babies of less than 4 months will also enjoy the privilege.
